In Finland, you can view nature’s most spectacular light show, the Aurora Borealis, from purpose-built spaces like glass huts and luxury suites.
The Northern Lights are visible roughly 200 nights a year in Finnish Lapland? While many choose to go Aurora-spotting by snowshoe, ski, snowmobile or dog sled, you can also view the Northern Lights from the comfort of the indoors.
In Finland, nights are typically dark enough to see the Northern Lights from late August to April – all you need are clear skies and a bit of luck. Head north for the best chance of catching them.
Known as one of the cradles of skiing, the winter sports that we see today stem from the Jungfrau ski region. Wengen, for example, has been hosting ski races for over 100 years. The name of the region comes from the magnificent Jungfrau Mountain, the largest peak between itself and its neighbors: the Eiger and the Mönch. One of the major attractions to the ski region is the amazing off-piste area its slopes provide.
Jungfrau has three areas in one: Grindelwald-Wengen, Grindelwald-First and Mürren-Schilthorn. Altogether, the region consists of two valleys, three mountain ranges and 131 miles of skiable terrain. There’s something for every level of skier, from gentle to steep slopes, plenty of powder, terrain parks and racing areas.
